Loona: A Two-Year Journey to Debut
Loona is a 12-member South Korean girl group formed by Blockberry Creative, debuting in August 2018 after an unprecedented two-year pre-debut project that introduced each member individually.
The Pre-Debut Era
From 2016 to 2018, each member was introduced separately through solo singles and short films that built an intricate narrative universe. This staggered rollout created anticipation and gave fans time to connect with each member's story before the group's formation.
Official Debut
On August 20, 2018, all 12 members came together under the Loona name with the single "Loona". The group debuted as the full realization of Blockberry Creative's vision—a story told across music, lore, and video that connected every piece released before.

What 'Orbit' Means
Orbit is the official name for Loona's fandom, chosen to reflect the group's recurring themes of celestial mechanics, lunar mythology, and cosmic cycles.
The Name
An orbit describes the path of an object moving around a celestial body—fans moving around Loona, held by gravity and constant motion.
The Imagery
Solar systems, moons, and stars thread through Loona's concept albums and MVs. Orbit connects fans to that larger universe.
The Connection
To be an Orbit is to orbit together—a community bound by shared stories, speculation, and devotion to seeing the narrative through to whatever comes next.
Sub-Units & the Wider Concept
Before and after debut, Loona released music through three sub-units—each with its own sound, visual identity, and place in the larger mythology.
LOONA 1/3 (2016–2017)
HeeJin, Hyunjin, HaSeul, Yeojin introduced the narrative's beginning. Their releases established the bright, youthful tone of the earliest chapters.
Odd Eye Circle (2017–2018)
Kim Lip, JinSoul, Choerry deepened the lore with more experimental sounds and darker visual themes, marking a shift in the story's mood.
LOONA yyxy (2018)
Yves, Chuu, Go Won, Olivia Hye completed the pre-debut rollout, bringing the final piece of the narrative puzzle before the group's official debut.
